What is Wage Garnishment?

Wage Garnishment is when a court issues an order requiring your employer to withhold a certain amount of your paycheck and send it directly to the person or institution to whom you owe money. This is done until your debt is paid off. When a portion of your paycheck is taken, it makes it difficult for a person to buy groceries, make a car payment and even pay the rent. Not being able to pay your monthly living expenses on top of drowning in debt makes for a lot of sleepless nights.

You Can Get Garnished Wages Back!

The garnishment of wages can cause tremendous stress and is one of the most common reasons for bankruptcy. If you owe child support, back taxes or student loans your wages may be garnished. High unsecured debts such as medical bills and credit cards are also reason. There are legal limits on how much of your paycheck can be garnished. Fortunately, filing for bankruptcy can almost always cease and eliminate wage garnishment. The creditor must comply and stop all collection measures including wage garnishment.
